Adelaide Family Law - Divorce

Divorce is the formal application to the Court to dissolve your marriage. It is a step that many people take just to properly ‘close the door’ on that relationship so that they can start fresh. Other people are in a hurry to divorce as they have started a new relationship and are considering re-marriage.

Generally speaking, divorce is often thought of as one of the easier steps when it comes to separation. Where appropriate, Phoenix Family Law will encourage people to consider this step on a self-represented basis. This may be encouraged where a client is looking to save money and, following advice, are confident that there are no hurdles that may require the attention of a legal representative. The issues that may arise include issues time limits, short marriages, family violence/safety concerns, children under age 18, separation under the same roof or difficulties around locating and serving your ex-partner with your application.

If you require or simply want assistance with your application for divorce, Phoenix Family Law offers a fixed fee for straightforward applications. If your divorce requires more attention due to some of those hurdles detailed here, we would be happy to have a chat and discuss a personalised fee for our services.
